The Echo: A Writing Forum

The Echo Profile

The Echo is a place for writers. If you love setting pen to paper or placing your fingers on a keyboard with a blank page in front of you, letting another life come into being, you’ll find others like you here.
Whether you write prose or poetry, short or long, with a career in mind or just for fun, we’re here to help each other. Post your work for others to read and critique, and read what others have to offer. In The Echo, you’ll find friendly advice to help you become a better writer, and you’ll help others develop, too.
Founded on August 23, 2007, The Echo is for everyone who writes. Although we’re a small and tight-knit community, we always welcome new members who love writing just as much as we do.

PROBOARDS V5
We've been working out the kinks in our recent upgrade to v5. Thanks for sticking with us and being so patient! A few things to note:

1) If you have not already done so, we highly recommend you look over the Privacy tab in your profile and make sure everything is set as you want it. Some of your privacy settings may have changed in the update.

2) The Echo's collapsible sidebar may not work properly for you if you haven't yet changed to our new skin. If the background of the forum changes when you're logged in or you don't see any green, you'll need to upgrade. Under your profile, click "Edit Profile," then select the "Settings" tab. In the drop-down menu under Forum Theme, choose Echo 1, then scroll down and click "Save Account Settings." This will upgrade you to the skin designed for this forum.

3) Our money system is now called Points. We've upgraded everyone's points to where they should be, but please message Sapphire if you notice any problems with yours.

4) We now have a chatbox! You can find it by scrolling all the way down on any page in the forum.

5) If you have any questions or suggestions or notice any bugs, please contact Sapphire or post in the Questions and Suggestions board.

CONTESTS
The third check-in for the Fall/Winter contest is March 1st! At this point, you should have written though the first three quarters of your chosen album. The final deadline is April 1st. At that point, you should have your entire entry written and posted under your assigned thread.
The contest is no longer open to new entries, but you can check out the rules and competitors here! This is quite an extensive contest, so we do recommend you familiarize yourself with the chosen albums and begin reading the entries before the voting begins on April 2nd!

Swift Scribbles
Beginning this month, we'll be holding a one-day contest on the 15th of every month! You'll have 24 hours from the posting of the prompt to write and submit your entry. Keep an eye out for our first prompt on March 15th!

GUIDES
We have created a few guides to help you with navigating the forum and getting the best possible experience out of The Echo. Check them out on the Guidelines & General Info page.
